Let the Painting Begin!

We got the keys on Monday & after a little hiccup (i.e. all of the seller's stuff wasn't out), we have begun the projects!  The kitchen has been cleaned, the washer/dryer have been installed, & we've begun moving in furniture.  Amazing to think that by tomorrow night, we'll be completely in!

We started painting in the kitchen/dining area first because we were completely decided on the color.

Wagner makes a nifty roller that has a tube built in.  You load the paint into the tube, doing away with the need for a paint tray.  It significantly cut down on the painting time & reduced dribbles on our newly cleaned floor.  Mr. Day handled the rolling, while the rest of use took on the trimming.  We had the whole room painted in about two hours.

The first coat is on & we plan to put the second (hopefully final) coat on tonight!

We also tested four different grays for the living room.  The top right & bottom left are too blue, & the top left is too dark.  We' were planning with the bottom right, which is Valspar, Stone Mason Gray... until I went to Caddo Paint & found this Benjamin Moore color (Jicama AF-315):

In other news, our first rose is blooming!!!  It's beautiful & will definitely stay.  I'm hoping the rest of the rose bushes are the same.  There's also some beautiful white flowers coming up from bulbs in the back corner that will look great with some hydrangeas behind them.  Patrick hopes to tackle the yard this weekend, so more on that later!
