We bought a house!

It's official!  We have a house!  Well, we don't actually close until April 1, but we've already started packing & planning.  Here's the basic floor plan:

The front needs a little TLC.  It faces west, so we need plants that can withstand the hot afternoon sun.  As of now, all of the bushes will come out & be replaced with a combination of shrubs and flowers.

There is a great entry way, with a coat closet.  I love natural light, so the windows surrounding the door are awesome!

The entry way opens into the living room, which has wonderful hardwood floors.  The fireplace was a requirement for me!  There are also windows that overlook the back patio & yard.  We definitely want a large area rug since I love to sit on the floor to do projects.  We're thinking gray for the walls...

The kitchen and dining room are off of the living room, which will make for easy entertaining.  We love that the kitchen is so big & open.  The double doors (seen in the background) are a good-sized pantry & the laundry room is across.  We're thinking a deep red for the walls...

The master bedroom is down the hall from the kitchen, so it's away from the rest of the house.  The large windows overlook the backyard.  We love the tray ceiling!  We're thinking of a dark gray for the walls, which will be a great neutral and will go with any bedding we get in the future.

The master bathroom has double closets around the garden tub.  While the closets aren't huge, with a little organization I think they'll be perfect!  We're super excited about the double sinks since we'll be able to get ready at the same time!  No more waiting in the morning!  There's also high ceilings, a chandelier, and a separate shower.  The blue paint will be replaced ASAP.

The guest bathroom is between the two guest rooms.  One guest room will be used as an office, while the other will accommodate guests. We love the red on the walls, so we don't plan to change much.

The backyard, like the front, just needs a little TLC.  There is a great crepe myrtle, which we'll leave, as well as some rose bushes.  The yard faces east, so I can plant things that require a little shade.  I plan to add some hydrangeas and azaleas, in addition to flowers.  We can't wait to add a grill and some comfy seating to the patio so we can really enjoy the yard.  One of our first projects will be a dog-door for Cassie so that she can get out when we're at work!
